my bb is almost 6-months now. I bought Ameda Lactraline double electric pump before my baby was born. I put my baby on breast since he was born before I resume work, but I still need the pump to pump out the remaining milk in the breasts. Otherwise, the breasts would become so hard and full sometimes.
i went to classes on breastfeeding before my baby was born. So I learnt that every mother would have enough supply for the baby if you do not supplement with milk powder. So I insisted not giving my baby milk powder and put him on breast whenever he cries for milk. I only weigh about 96 lbs (5 feet 3 inches tall) before I'm pregnant . So far baby only eats my breastmilk.
I didn't consider the hand-operated pump because it would be too tiring to use hands and I really don't have the energy and strength for that.
