Steam the pump

Hello, I have a question on steam the pump . My baby is 13 mothes and I wonder do I need to steam the pump and the bottle every time/day?? Because I wonder the bowl and spoon is just use hot water to clear up. Please help me. Many thanks.

Yes it is a must/necessary to steam the pump and bottle every day even you didn't use them.
As advised by the nurse, the stuff only keep 24 hours.
For bb's health, pls steam

I have just purchased the AVent manual pump. However, the 'Ho Fa' sales advised me not to steam all the parts as the soft plastic parts cannot put into the steam sterilizer. I then double check with Mother Care sales and they told me the same story. They informed me just to use hot water to wash the soft plasstic parts.

Is it true?

I used the Avent 消毒片 to sterilize the pump.

但係avent奶煲說明書都有教點様可以放哂啲parts係同一個tray度喎

I am a working mom and I used to use my Avent pump at least 4 times a day for at least 10 months. I steam it every time before I use it. I don't think there will be any problem to steam it.

I wonder why the sales said that. The so-called soft plastic part is made of silicone and that is the same material the Avent nipple is made of. I don't think anyone will use the plastic nipple without first sterilise them with steamer.

Trust me. I did that and I believe you have to do that as well. Breastmilk is extremely nutritive and don't ever use your pump without boiling or steaming it. The germs (your eyes cannot see them) will grow in your milk and that would be harmful to your baby.

Hello sweetma,

Thanks for your informaiton. How can you steam it in the office?? I do steam the pump even day/time even now becasue I breastfeed my baby at home. I just pump out some milk for his breakfast - for organic cereal .

Where can I get Avent 消毒片? How to use it? Do I just put it in boiled hot water and let it soaked for a few hrs?

Since I'll need to pump milk in the office more than once every day, just wondering how the pump can be sterilized in the offce after each use.

siu-b,我就用milton消毒藥水(吉之島bb部有得賣),用個2公升大保鮮盒裝晒個泵o既所有配件,倒一樽蓋藥水,再加水喉水,浸半小時就用得.我一日泵3次,就係咁消毒.

我喂左13個月. 由第一日返工汞奶, 我只係用個microwave盒裝住個pump, 再用滾水浸5分鐘. 一直都無事. 我一日都汞成2-3次嫁.

I am also a working mom and find it very convenient to sterilize the pump with microwave. I use just a cheap microwave steamer (a big one but cost like $20). From time to time, I am go out and cannot wash and steam the pump, I keep the pump in a clean plastic bag and use it for the second time. But no way to use the third time as in hot weather, germs can glow in 4 or 5 hours. Therefore, I choose to disgard the milk if I stay out long. If boiling water is available, to rinse the pump with boiling water seems acceptable especially for big baby, though not recommended for frequent use.
