He disagreed and said my son was totally normal and I should not do anything about it. I talked with my husband afterwards and did some more research, we decided to just follow Dr Ngan's advice.
Jeanette, I totally understand how you feel. I was so worried as well about my decision of doing nothing would somehow affect the growth of my son's penis as Prof Yeung suggested. However Dr Ngan and quite a few other paeditricians I saw afterwards all said it was normal and certainly wouldn't affect the development at all for now. As this is a 2 hour surgery, I certainly wouldn't want my son to go through it unless absolutely necessary. So I thought I'd better wait and keep an eye on it, it probably won't be too serious or urgent since most doctors think there is nothing wrong.
I totally understand as my son has similar problem. We went to various surgeons and got different opinions. At the end, Dr Peter yip did the surgery. He is a nice Dr but the after surgery care was very bad and my son wound was infected. End up need my son pedi helped to clean the wound for few times and recover.
Recently, when my son has hernia problem, I just told him to Dr Yeung and has the surgery. Dr Yeung is very expensive but at least my son has no after surgery complication.
