May I know, are you becoming a Catholic? If yes, I suggest you to find a sister (修女) in your church to assist you to find a Godmother. This is the way of finding Godfather/Godmother of all 候洗者 whom know no one in the Church.
I really think that after you approach a Sister, your problem can be solved. In case you still have difficulties, let me know which church are you in, see if I can give a helping hand, but I can't guarantee. :-|

I have been baptized two years ago. Some classmates told Sister that they can't found Godmother/Godfather. Sister can't help her(of course Sister is very kind and helpful). Because if everybody ask her to find, how can she found so many catholic to help.
However, jk67jk is right. The responsibility of a Godmother is to lead and help their son/daughter towards the road to God.
For my Godmother, she only present at Easter night. I know it is not good but she need to work, she can't attend everytime. I think Father will understand.
Try to find within your friends or colleage and ask Sister is it OK if the absent at few events.
