Here are the details:

http://www.ycis-hk.com/Pages/ECE/School/UpcomingEvents.aspx?docID=753&MenuID=49&Style=Menu&EventID=45189

I will and want to apply for 1-2 year old class.

I am getting a bit worried that my BB cannot admit to any of the toddler's or pre-nursery classes. 2 of my relatives' BB can't get into the schools they want.

Thanks for the details, I think i'll probably go, but my babies are only 4 months old now. I thought I don't have to worry about schools now, but husband is always asking whether I've checked into the admission details blah blah blah. He says his friend's B couldn't get in (some int'l school but don't know which) as one should apply before the BB is born! ???!
What schools did yr relatives' BBs want?
A friend's boy went to Yew Chung and she tells me there's always space, as long as can afford $$$ tuition. But that was 5 yrs ago.
I don't even know how to approach this. Are you planning int'l school or traditional school for yr B?

My relatives' BBs want to get into HKPC and some Kln Tong pre-nurseries which I don't know the names.

My friend's BB got into 2 years' old class in Yew Chung, but other schools did not take him.

Yew Chung's fee is not expensive as compared to some others (like Kingston and Tutor time).

I will apply for 1-2 year old for my bb, only $4050/mth for 3 half day school.

I prefer international school.

Have you heard of Keen Mind? My friend said this is a good kindergarden. I've never heard of this though. This school offers classes to children from age 2 or above.

Keen mind - I've heard of it before, but really know nothing. I just checked out their web page, seems (just seems) a small but cozy school.
Have u thot about primary school yet?
From relatives and advice here, they say pick the kindergarten based on the primary school you want to attend. I'm hoping my Bs can go to those "saint this" "saint that" traditional primary schools. As I believe (just believe, maybe wrong) one can always get into int'l school as long as have $$$. Since I'm not wealthy, I don't want my kids to feel bad in front of chauffeur driven $$$$ classmates (assuming I can afford the tuition).

even reputable schools have average income earning families, just like Kingston/DGS/CCKG/Maryknoll etc. My niece studied in Kingston, she's not rich. Most of her schoolmates take taxi, or walk to school, no chauffeurs. A lot of DGS girls take MTR to school, there are only a few out of the 4x in the class who are very very rich.

Kingston 2+yr old class is expensive. It costs $7900/mth. I heard that many parents change kindergarden for their child after studying there for 1 year because of its expensive fees. Therefore, their 2 year old class is easier to admit.

I want my girl to study in DGS or Maryknoll. If not, Hip Yan and Hopewell are other good choices.

actually i have not yet started to think about which school to attend for my baby boy! I want to attend some located in Kowloon Tong as it can save some traveling time and cost for my baby as my hubby can drive him school everyday (he works there)....

According to the limited information in my mind at the moment, I will consider Chinese Rhenish Church Kowloon, Stafford, St Catherine and Kentville. Yew Chung and Kingston is too expensive for me!! But i don't know when to apply... any idea ?

I will also apply for Kentville and St. Catherine too.

It's better to apply 1-2 year old class now. Many parents apply for their baby before their baby was born. For 2-3 years old class, can apply when the child is 1 year old. Some babies don't study 1-2 year old class, they go to playgroup or stay at home instead.

Since the fee of playgroup vs toddler's class in kindergarden does not differ much, I will choose toddler's class.

St Cat and Kentville accept applications the Sep before the commencing school year. They only offer K1-K3 and have no nursery class. So you don't need worry so soon. Take time to enjoy every day with your b.

Yes, nursery classes are more value-for-money. They take care of the b for the whole morning/afternoon or even the whole day and can free up the parent / helper a lot.

Yew Chung's open day is on the same day and time as Tutortime open day. YC is just opposite to Tt. So if anyone of you go to YC's open day, can also go to Tt too (which I will).

Anyone of you will apply for Victoria's 2-3 year old class? If so, which campus is better? North Point or Homantin?

There are actually only 3 reputable Kln Tong kindergardens offer toddler's class:
Yew Chung, Kingston and Tutortime.

All others offer 2 years up classes.

Victoria also offers toddler's class, and price is reasonable, cheaper than Kln Tong schools. The good thing is they have Sat class so that working mums can attend with their babies

Yes will go. Even if can't afford, going to those open days should give me ideas of what a good toddler class is like.
Can someone give an idea of the approx cost of those classes? I believe Vic is 2 to 3K?? I have twins so cost is an important factor for me (of course the campus and quality of teaching is v important too, but can weigh each factor). $4K a month per child is the absolute max and I really don't want to spend that much. I'm hoping for something around $2K. Any suggestions?

i will send her to Int'l toddler's and kindgergarden, but will not send her to primary and secondary int'l school as I think students there are very 'yai yai' and spoiled, also too expensive (10k/mth).

i will definitely go for YC, Tt, Kingston or Victoria toddler's class. My brother said it's very easy to get into Kingston and Tt's 2-3 year old class because they are expensive. Whenever the applicant asked if they have availability, they said only 1 ja (my bro and his friend rec'd the same message).

I think Kentville and St. Catherine kindergarden maybe better if I want my girl to study in traditional famous schools in HK (if she's smart enough to get in).

here's the fee for toddler's class (playgroup):

http://www.victoria.edu.hk/playgroup/eng/playgroup_50.html

It's within your budget. I guess I will join their 2 days/wk class.

For 2-3 year old, it's slightly above $4000/mth (my niece applied to their 2-3 year old class)

Actually it may not be useful attending toddler's class as the baby is too small who cannot understand much (which means waste of $). But my hubby wants her to get along with the environment earlier (because toddler's class can be accompanied by parent/maid) so that she can go to 2-3 yr old class herself with less anxiety and frustration.

Hi C-wong,

I also saw the adv that Yew Chung and plan to go as well. At lease, could check on the application procedure. What time will you go?

For the playgroup, I already submitted a from for my son to join the Victoria playgroup at Harbour Green. I was told there are already around 800 kids on the waiting list

wah, is it 2-3 year old class ah? my friends told me not a lot of people apply for their toddler's class. i will send out the application form tmr. i will apply for Homantin Campus because it's an older campus which I think the teachers have more experience(??) But my sis in law said HG campus facilities are very good.

I will go to open day at around 2pm after lunch.

anyway, if can't admit Victoria, will go for Kingston or Yew Chung. I will also apply for Tutortime but will put in last priority.

Hey, YC's open day is on the same day as Tutortime. I will go to both the same day. U can visit both schools the same day la, no need to book a visit.

It's easy to get into Tt and Kingston 2-3 year old class because they are expensive. My niece cdn't get into cheaper schools, but was accepted by these 2 schools (2-3 yr old class). She is trying to get into Victoria.
