Yes, you can get a new passport in Hong Kong but they are still issuing those old style without micro-chip one, and is only 32 pages and it will require you to get a new one with microchip once you go back to Malaysia!
Malaysia Consulate open only from Monday to Thursday - 9:00am to 12:00pm, so you have to call during this period.
You need to get your ID card for issuing a new passport.
Note: I just changed my passport end of Oct last year. It might not be that update anymore...it was my third passport issued in HK. Hope the information can help you.
finally i did renew my passport!
cause i asked my sis to send my ID card to me by DHL!
as the malaysia consolute said there must need ID card to renew the passport!
