my B took cereal first. has started to eat banana and pumpkin 'yung' 1 week ago. she loves it and knows how use a spoon. sometimes she even hold the spoon herself. tonight we let her lick melon, she loves it a lot.
by eating solid food, she knows how to eat with spoon, munch without teeth, and how to use her tongue to lick. she can now identify what is food. whenever we are about to deliver the food to her mouth, she would open her mouth.
I feed my son with rice cereal first, since his 5 months old, and let him try the apple paste yesterday. He likes the apple paste very much, more than the rice cereal.

at my home, she uses BB spoon (Combi smallest spoon). At my mum's home, she's using a kid's spoon (the size of spaghetti house kid's spoon).
i uses cereal to mix with milk for her to drink, so the cereal i mix is more liquid. for banana and pumpkin, i give her in between milk time once in 2 days. the additional banana/pumpkin meal does not disrupt the milk schedule.
my baby loves eating a lot, whenever we eat human food, she would move her mouth (um um um)and look at us hoping us to give her our food. I let her lick my tomato, green bean and some other food before, so she knows there are different types of food apart from her milk.
