Elidel is not for severe eczema, it's for maintenance therapy only.
Go and see the doctor and he will probably prescribe some steroid to control the situation. Then, you can decide whether to use Elidel.

Did you bring your baby to the Dr.? It will be much better to consulant the Dr. before you use the Elidel.
If your baby's eczema is quite serious, I guess the Dr. will suggest you to you the "Cortisone". When it become better you might consider to use the Elidel.
Remeber to put lotion/cream before you use the Elidel or protopic coz I saw some mama here say there is "Hot/burn" feeling on the body when used.
P.s. My Dr told me protopic seems is suggested to use for the baby who is 1yr?/ 3yrs old or up in some country. Kindly check it with your Dr.
