I've ordered n picked the brand new Lenovo X1 as it's extremely durable, last for, at least, five years.
Now, in ur case, major difference include 1/ hard drive (Dell equipped with M.2 whereas Lenovo is running traditional SSD, M.2 is definatelly faster) 2/ display (14" for Lenovo vs 13.3 for Dell) and 3/ weight (Lenovo initial weight at 2.4 lbs while Dell at 2.75).
Ain't sure if u need to run simulation but if you do, better off to aim for a better dispaly card. HP Envy series equipped with a Geforce MX150. Meanwhile, Lenovo n Del only have Intel 620, where it's performance is not as good as MX150.
