I will bring my Nikon CP5000 but SLR camera. Although the response of focusing is not fast enough and the built-in flash is not powerful. But if using ISO400, it is capable to take good photos in night time or indoor without flash.
Of course, you may miss to take photos with good quality. But I think you will more enjoy your vocation if your bagguages are as light as possible also, especially for a long journey.
