上星期我朋友由香港寄了盒包果比我..入面有幾對BB鞋仔, 雜誌 & 1條條果d豬肉條..佢係出面custom張紙寫'shoes, magazine, dry food' 係唔係因為佢寫了dry food而charge我呢? 知唔知大約會charge幾££呢??? 前年佢都寄過比我..佢都寫了dry food..但又無事喎?? 還是轉了policy/law? 還是我黑仔呢?? 六合彩又唔見中喎

oh no.. im sorry to hear it and i dont know about it!! since u said it like that, i aint gonna ask my family to send me anythings in the future la.. otherwise i might have a big bill from the customs.

前排睇無線衛星台,UK好似有新LAW,唔比任何肉類+奶類/其制成品入境...By post都唔得...因為我唔全住uk,所以無乜留心去記..

我唔記得時睇到,不過肯定係呢幾個月..

聽到你咁講, 真係"鄧你唔抵." 我上星期先收到一個由我媽及家姐寄來的包裹, 入面有幾套囡囡衫褲和幾盒日本手信及有一包係即食的dried scallops. 好彩冇事. 不過, 聽人講佢係會random check. 你朋友寫買咗幾多錢呀? 好似過咗3x英鎊就要比custom charges.

我幾年前幫襯過幾次係 strawberry.net 買野, 都冇事, 但忽然有一次佢竟然係個parcel面 tick 係sample而唔係gift. 結果, 我果次大概買咗HK$300既野, 個郵差黎到要我比大概9鎊. 我記得好耐以前睇過, 唔記得邊個國家, 有人寄parcel, 入面有sample, 咁佢當然tick sample, 寫住$1, 都比郵局 charged $1000 custom charges. 所以, 果次我sent email 駡鬼 straweberry.net, 之後唔再幫襯.

其實, 肉類及奶類, 一早都唔準入口, 不過有時偷雞.

My mum always sent me parcel - the parcel weight 10kgs (which she used the 10kgs boxes from the post office). The parcel are usually chinese herbs/scallops....u know just those for boiling soup. On the parcel, she will write 'soup materials'! I was sent many many times this kind of parcel from my mum.......... and I was charged once - the charge was VAT and it was nothing to do with the food inside, it is just VAT, so no matter what it is and if the value is over a certain price, they will charge u VAT and I guess it is random as I didn't got charged every time.....FYI, I was charges about £24 or £28 (I couldn't remember) with a parcel (10kgs) and the value of the food cost more than HK$1000. So don't worry, I don't think they will charge u a lot and they will give u an option, if you don't want to pay, they will send the parcel back to the sender.

其實我已被charged好幾次了. 果幾次都係£3x-4x. 我最記得被charged的第一次, 係香港嘅ebay買衫, 又係10kg盒, 個賣家已'√' gift果欄..clothes..果唔到都要比£3x-£4x, 我覺得唔值得, 所以無比到...等佢地寄番比個賣家..足足都等咗半年先到香港, 佢地要個賣家比$2xx先可以攞番盒野..個賣家都有比番哂d衫$$ but扣咗果$2xx...真係唔抵

If you write 'second hand clothes' on the parcel, you won't be asked VAT.
Yes if the seller agree to write down the value, it is a good idea, too!

BTW why you bought clothes from HK ebay and it is 10kgs tim, U must have bought a lot! I mean does it worth it as u have to pay for the postal (10kgs)?! I guess for the money u pay, you can buy it here?!

上年係香港買咗好多衫...用船寄番uk..個郵差叔叔教只寫'clothes'好了, 唔好寫'new clothes' or 'old clothes' but y second hand clothes no need to pay VAT?

I don't know ar, I guess VAT only applied to 'New' products, so second hand is old, not new, that's why no need to pay VAT lor.
But now I get used to wear UK clothes, the children clothes from HK usually have lots of cartoon characters....... I feel a bit 'leung'

scallops-- no charge............be careful, they black list your address.....

我試過由香港寄一箱自己造0既陶瓷0黎英國，被CUSTOMS CHARGE 0左45 pounds VAT，嬲到震! ROYAL MAIL 0的人就同我講，因為我填寫個價值高過佢0地某個標準(唔記得幾鎊)，所以要交 VAT。我都唔明點解我自己整0既又唔係買0既0野都要交VAT? ROYAL MAIL 就教我同CUSTOMS上訴，但後來我嫌麻煩就不了了之。

我仲想補充一樣0野，如果郵包係由香港寄出，香港郵政係有保險0既，即係話，如果包裹寄失0左，佢0地會有錢賠畀你。但個金額係依照你填郵包個價值所決定。so i think it's a dilemma. 金額填太高又被人charge VAT, 填太低寄失0左保險又賠得少。所以自從要交45 POUNDS之後，朋友寄0野畀我我都婉拒0左，費事要自己畀錢去贖番自己0既禮物。

Just curious to know, anyone had any experiences of 寄失 letters/parcel by Royal mail??

Me myself is very unfortunate, I did have several experiences of 寄失 letters by Royal Mail. No matter it is normal first class or Recorded Delivery, it was still 寄失.

So I do think Royal mail is not very reliable!

I think they also provide some insurance like in HK.
