I have 2 kids, the 1st one by c-section, the 2nd one (as highly recommended by my doctor), I tried natural birth. I recovered very well on both.
I have no choice on the c-section 'cos I bleed seriously since the placenta had dropped off and the doctor advised to take the baby out immediately to avoid any accidents.
When I was pregnant for the 2nd one, I told my doctor that I would like to take c-section as well 'cos it was really a good experience for me and I was so scared of painfulness. But she kept on persuading me to try natural birth... eventhough I couldn't make up my mind for the whole period, I gave birth natually at the end. I was sent to the hospital at 11xx at night and I gave birth to my baby at 8am, the process was so smooth, but I really couldn't stand the pain, I kept on screaming and asked for c-section at 6am, but as soon as I signed all the documents, the nurse already 'put-up' my legs, 'cos I was ready to give birth, the doctor helped as soon as she arrived and then the baby was born.
I think if you are someone who really can't stand the painfulness, then c-section is good though there is risk for the mom. Natural birth is a very good experience and unforgettable! It's so touching when you see the baby right after you gave birth!
Don't worry, as long as the baby and yourself are healthy, don't really count on how much you gain, 'cos I gained 54lbs during this pregnancy!
Hope this helps! Wishing you a very lovely and healthy baby!
