FW CedricLV:
I have a Monogram Canvas Multiple Billfold (?) that hasn't a date code. I don't have a clue on it's age. I own it since I was 9 or 10 yo (thow I stored it somewhere because I didn't know what it was - in fact I didn't really like it - and found it two years ago), so I own it for ten years, but it was my grand father who gave it to me and i don't know how old it was then. Is it possible that the wallet is more than 25 yo?? The monogram is already fading, the grained leather inside has little grain and it's starting to show the canvas between the monogram and the leather lining at the middle, where it folds. I'm thinking of visiting the LV store in Lisbon so they can help me telling it's age. I'll try to take some pictures and post them so you can help me too!

Well, I went to LV this afternoon and asked a SA to take a look at my wallet, trying to determinate its age. She looked at it and tryed to find the date code, and I told her that I've searched every inch myself and couldn't find anything. She didn't find anything either. Then I told her that I've read in this forum that LV only started to stamp date codes since the early 80's. As she couldn't confirm it herself she took me to the Store Mannager so I could confirm it with her. The lady works at LV for almost 30 years and told me that when she started working there they already printed date codes on some bags. Then again we searched for the date code and as a miracle it was there , where we've looked so many times before but never noticed it: in the fold under the crossed folds. 883 RA (August of 1983). Almost 24 yo!!
She was so pleased with herself for finding the date code, and with the fact that a 19 yo young man was there realising he has a wallet that is older than himself, that she took my phone number and address so she can send me invitations for LV events and any news or catalogs that might interest me! That was so nice of her that I just couldn't stop smiling!! I thanked her for everything and went out of her office with the SA. As if it wasn't good enough, the SA went to her desk with my wallet and came back with a box and dustbag so I won't stock it on the end of a closet for another 10 years ( as if it was possible! I'm not 10yo anymore!!).
I'm in with LV and my vintage wallet more than ever!!!
