I am being told by friend that under the safety regulations in Canada, both resident and citizen can't bring the stroller which is bought outside canada into Canada. Is that true? I am currently in Hk with my new born baby and want to buy a stroller here, but if we can't bring it back to canada, what a waste ! can anyone share experience ? many thx
Are you just talking about the single stroller, not the combo stroller (car seat & stroller)? If just the stroller itself, I think it is no problem, because the stroller that I have also bought from HK. Yes, I am talking about just a single stroller only. So you are canadian resident / citizen right? When did you bring yours to Canada? coz my friend told me visitors are free to bring any stroller in/ out Canada, but not the Canadian resident/ citizen, as they have to buy the strollers inside Canada which achieved the safety standard of Canada.
That's why I am so hesistate if I should spend $ on buying a stroller in hk now as I will return to canada in just a couple months later. It's really problematic to go out without a stroller now.

Don't worry, you can bring any strollers or car seats to Canada. The custom won't take away your stuffs.
But, yes! There is Canadian Safety Standard. This is mainly for importer. If any products don't meet the standard, they can not be sold in Canada. And the government also SUGGESTS us to use the products which meet the standard...esp. baby products. This is because these products are more safe for child. The biggest concern is car seat...because it is for protecting the child in an accident.
If you are talking about stroller, I don't think you have to worry. However one thing I have to mention is if there is unfortunately an accident occurred because of those non-certified products, insurance company can reject the claim.
