jessbaby,
many stayhome moms will send their child to day care since 3 years old, as you won't want your child will be the only one stays behind. As 3 years old day care here, mostly they offer academic level for the students.. by learning colors, shapes, letter and numbers, concept and routine, social life as well.
if you don't want your child to attend regular day care.
You can take your lil one to join the play group.
Amanda attends play group (gymboree) since she was 10 months old, then she out growth of it, and attends day care when she was 2 years old.
That helps a lot for her and she is a social butterfly.

Amanda was toilet trainned when she was 2, so she went to bathroom by herself.
Gabriel was on diaper when he was in toddler day care, he was in 2 years old class. Now, he is 3, he has his pull up when we get into school every morning. As he goes to infant care in the morning from 7am to 8am, then, toddler day care teacher will pick him up and brings him over to 3 years old day care center.
He still have it, as he has accidents. Sometime, he wets his whole bed at nap time.
It depends on the school policy. Many daycare for 2-3 years old, they accept kids with diaper and pull up, and they will apply the ointment for parents as per Peds prescription.
My son has toilet training from school. the teacher helps a lot. Now, he doesn't wear diaper at night. Just a pull up to go to school, just in case, he did not get enough time to reach the bathroom at school before 8am. After 8am, he has no pull up.
Boys by around 2, 3 years old, once they have better hand-eye coordination, they can pull up and down their pants, they can be toilet trained.
You can call the day care and get more information from each of them.
Gabriel attends the Russian Daycare, as they have similar culture just like Chinese, so Gabriel can learn toilet training stress free.

jessbaby,
they charge the family by age, as infant needs more man power, and more attention, so it is expensive.
for Gabriel, he is 3 years old, so they charge us $670 per month, 7am-7pm, with hot meal.

I know red apple, but I don't want him to go, just want him to stay in a western culture daycare. As it is a private daycare, caregiver and child ratio is perfect for us. Gabriel is the only chinese in the class, and he gets used to it, everyday, he will hug his friend, white, black, russian, spanish.. haha..all nationality in the class, as it is private, parents are working parents, many of them are health care professional, so i feel good with that!
They do offer morning section, afternoon section, for those 5 years old and up, they offer afterschool section.
They have emergency drop off, but you better have relationship with them, then they will accept it.
Amanda has this service, when her school closes for holiday, I drop Amanda off to this daycare where she growth up with. The teachers love her.
Their homework and classwork are very difficult.. even deeper than those in Amanda's school. If not because Amanda can get into Nest+M, I sure will let her do her K, and 1st grade to 3rd there..

Bernadette went o to day care center since she was 6 months old.
At the beginning, she just went there 2 days per week. However, I find out Bernadette learns a lot from the center, so, I let her go there everyday. Now, I paid $450/ month, Mon-Fri - 5 hours a day.
She still wears diaper, teacher would change for her.
jessbaby,
you have to wait la.. as they take 3 years old and up, they have chinese, but most are russian. as it is a jewish center. They have swimming pool at the basement, so kids there will learn swimming as well. Kids need to be toilet trained, I can ask the price for you so you can consider if you want to transfer your child to JCH of Bensonhurst.
