Any US mommy know what kind of whole fish should I use to make fish broth? I always make the same kind of soup for my son and I wanna try to something new (such as tomato-tofu-fish soup)... but I don't really know what kind of fish should I get.
The problem is my mom/friends in HK tell me to use such and such and I don't even know the name in english such as 'big eye chicken', and there are not as many options here as in HK. usually I only see Snapper, Bass, Flounder, Tilapia, Salmon but I'm not sure if they are good for soup broth (and a lot of time it's only filet). Please advise!
You can actually make fish soup from all kinds of fish. I usually just pick what's relatively fresher and good price. I have also made fish soup with filet. It's not as good, but still work.
i ended up just made some wintermelon soup last week (too lazy!) so haven't tried the fish soup yet... but will make it this week and definitely let you know :)
