This happened to me about six years ago. I found out I was pregnant on the third day of my new job.
I looked into the labour laws and found out the following:
- I won't be entitled to the 10 weeks maternity leave (before 4 weeks and after 6 weeks)
- But my employer still can't fire me while I am pregnant.
I ended up resigning two days later because it was a teaching job and I didn't want have to stand around too much. I worked for them for another two months just to prepare the teaching material. They were nice enough that they let me go to work late and leave early to avoid the rush hour.
