I just hired a Philippine maid, who is 35 years old, with 3 children. She is very very stupid. We taught her how to turn on the drying machine and gas heater many times. But she doesn't know what is right or left side. We told her the direction is clockwise. She marked down "right side" in her notes. However, she still turned to left side. We may fire her later. Any advice or same experience ?
Does she have any overseas experience? I have terminated a bun bun 2 weeks ago. She claimed that she worked in Taiwan as a factory worker for 3 years. She doesn’t have any overseas DH experience and only worked as a DH in Philippines for 2 years. She is 30 with a child of 7. She looks obedient and a DH look. But, you know, I was 吐血 during those 10 days which she worked for me. I was 吐血 within 24 hours a day. Her wrongdoings were numerous. For example, my husband asked her to give me a cup of water to take “Panadol”. In the first instance, she didn’t listen (she’s in the kitchen and cleaning the wok) and my husband had to ask her again. OK, then she came out and handed me a cup of water and said “Mum, the water is very hot.” I replied her that “you may get some cold water from the fridge, half cold water and half hot water, then it’s warm water!” She then went back to the kitchen again but did not come out for nearly 2 mins. I then walked into the kitchen and see what happened. You know what? I saw her put my cup of hot water in the freezer and trying to close the freezer’s door!!!! Oh God ! Beside this incident, there were many others:-
1. She hardly and rudely pushed and tried to close the gate many times – you know why! My shoes were in between the gate and that’s why she could not close the gate.
2. One day, I was in the kitchen and taught her in cooking. Before I started, she tried to switch the range hood’s main switch (which is on the kitchen wall outside), she said “Mum! Why it doesn’t work?” You know, what she did at that moment, she kept on “switch on … switch off ….. switch on ….. switch off …..” for about 8 times.
3. She hand washed my son’s uniform (only 1 shirt) and put in the washing machine to spin. She forgot to take it out and hang up until mid-night.
4. She taught her to cook long-boiled soup and I have already told her to switch off the gas cooker at 5:30 pm but she didn’t. I was at home on that day and I therefore asked her what time to switch off the gas cooker. She replied me 5:30 pm (it was 5:40 pm at that time), I then asked her why she didn’t switch it off then. She didn’t reply and went to the kitchen.
5. One day when I was in my bedroom and talked to someone over the phone, she was in the bathroom and cleaning the bath-tub (but without using the shower, it means that it was very quiet), I heard that someone rang the door bell for many times. I walked out my bedroom and opened the door immediately. My husband and my son stood outside the door and looked very angry. I then asked the bun bun why don’t you open the door. She just looked at me without saying anything.
6. My electrical appliances, such as, rice cooker, gas cooker, 2 sinks in the kitchen were seriously damaged by her within 10 days only.
7. She’s also very untidy and dirty even though I have told her how to do the household chores, with a clear timetable and working schedules already.
8. Lastly, I asked her why she always forget the things that I told her or forget to do the household chores. Her answer was she’s got plenty of work to do. Bear in mind that, there is only 2 adults and 1 boy (7 years old) in my house. On the day she told me that she’s got plenty of work – that fact was, on that day, she did not need to cook lunch, dinner, no need to go to market, no need to wash clothes, no need to iron clothes!! But she told me that she’s got plenty of work to do.
Finally, both my husband, my mother and my father urged me to fire her with a month salary!
I swear to myself that I will never hire an overseas bun bun !!!!!
