i bought one for my elder daughter when she was about 5, she played until 12 (but switched the position of chef to her sister, she became customer).
it is worthing to purchase, not counting that it was not expensive, but was the time that you shared with your children.
i bought extra toy food, tea set for them. they would designed the menu and money themselves. the restaurant opened everyday, long hours on weekends. they learned from playing.
1) memory - i order egg + hamburger + fries / egg + chicken / fries + tea etc.
2) simple calculation - how much should i pay for my order - e.g. egg $1 / hamburger $2
3) simple payment - total order $2, i pay $5 and what will i get in return

for my husband, my doll just served him a ashtray, cause she said "papa always hides in a washroom with one ashtray"
