Our helper has come for already a month. She eats a lot so we give her HKD740 food allowance instead of providing food to her. Any comment or valuable experience to share? We haven't used helper before... Many thanks!

我都係比緊FOOD ALLOWANCE,不過我仲係舊約,而家比緊300蚊。你比740,咁你包吾包佢米?我包埋米,佢日日都煎、炸野,用我好多油。我一星期用1支油。

Not include rice la as she eats a lot of rice, i didn't ask her to buy her own oil or soya sauce but she still buy for herself (which is GOOD!) She used a lot of my oil before, and now she used her own, I found that her oil is being used less quickly!

Do you give them food allowance since she arrives or you changed after seeing her eating too much? Me too, my maid really eats a lot! f she bought a bag of 4 small crossaint for breakfast, she can finish in one day, plus a big plate of rice with lots of food. She won't care whether we have enought rice or not, she fills up her own plate first! Since we don't eat at home too often (both lunch and dinner), she at least have 2 eggs per meal plus 1 can of luncheon meat or a can of sardines! If there is leftover which she doesn't like, she will just leave it in the fridge! Also, afternoon tea too! That's why she gained back her 20 pounds in these 10 months! My husband always complains and asked me to give her food allowance but I think $300 is really not enough and I can't tell whether she still eat our food or not!

I pay her food allowance (HKD740) after she stayed with us for a week coz I found that she really eats a lot. And maybe I gave her too much freedom (i.e. I go with her to the supermarket and ask her to choose her food that I pay, you know what?? she choose orginic vergetable! so expensive!) because of all these, i decided to give her food allowance, and so far, I don't found her eating our food or rice...

I asked my ex bun to buy her own food (excluding bread, rice and noodles) during her holidays (she shoped once a week) and give me all her receipts. She claimed about $300-400 per month. She even bought ice-cream and coke!!! I didn't want to pay her that, but my c6 said, 'why can't she eat ice-cream and drink coke?' then what can I say?!

We had this arrangement because my maid told me that she didn't want me to buy her food as she wanted to choose her food! And she didn't ask me to pay her the food allowance! So I just paid her whatever she bought!

One day I found that she stole my wontons and she said she would pay me for that. Chi sin!!!

If she eats dinner with u, how can she eat her own rice and u eat yours. Cook twice or mix rice?

I think that's too much! My ex bun spent only at most $400 in her food per month!

I think if they get over 700 food allowance, then won't spend all on it. But if they eat together with us, she will spend more than 700! Mine is really a big eater! And we found out she stole 1 or 2 cans of coke out on Sunday! I want to give her food allowance but it is still ahrd to monitor if she eats our stuff! Besides, if we eat together at the same house, it is hard to ask her to cook her own food!!

我比左FOOD ALLOWANCE,早餐同午餐佢都要食自己,因為我2個仔返哂學,到4點先返。我工人吾食豬,晚飯有豬又吾會比佢,只比魚同菜,所以佢吾可以成日"痴"我地食。

I paid food allowance to my maid. Her contract minimum is $300 but she said not enough, she asked for $500 and we paid her. She ate our rice & cook with our ingredients (oil, salt & sugar...). Problem is she cooks "big feast" for herself e.g. fried porkchops, chicken etc., i.e. better than what we eat! And she spends so much time on her cooking. When our relationship was better in the past, we often ordered food for her too eg. KFC, pizza hut, mcdonld's but she didn't even say thank you. So we no longer order for her. We feel sorry for her. But at least she doesn't have to cook breakfast for us!

佢自己比錢買,咁捨得食你都無辦法,不過佢地好鐘意炸野,用我好多油。而家比左FOOD ALLOWANCE佢,我地叫PIZZA,KFC都無預佢。

actually I think you should ask her to buy her own oil, salt, saya sauce, sugar, etc. as well because you give her food allowance!

I also want to just give food allowance but she will eat my rice (it's hard to ask her to buy her own rice and cook in my rice cooker as I cook rice everyday!!!!!) and I think if I give her food allowance, she will eat alot of my rice and use very little of $$ to buy little food, e.g. fish, meat, vegi for herself!
