I hired a yan yan last oct, (our old maid was bun), we are not communicated well at beginning, (even she worked in singapore for 2years), and loved to deep fired the food. We are patient to talk and teach her. Now she is OK la and can handle what we need. She may understand simple chinese, I always write down the food and things for her to buy (in english), plus buy a cook book in indonesian. One thing to remember is most of them do not eat PORK, and they will cook their own food. My own thought is that they are not smart as Bun. How old is your BB?
