1 year experience only. Don't expect good quality maid stay too long. But if they are doing well in theri service period, I don't mind be their stepping stones.
I have exactly same experience with you.
As I know, Canada now highly demands for some caregivers for some disable children – so-called is Caregiver Program.
If some foreigners, like Pilipino (coz they can speak English), with one year experience in taking care of baby; even though they have no high diplomas.. it’s also welcome.
For the whole process, it takes around half a year.
After they’re being accepted by the program, they will have interview/ or body check; if everything is ok, they will have final confirmation to issue the visa about 3 months later….
The reason they want going to Canada is mainly higher salary (3x higher than HK) and with limited working hrs (from Mon to Fri: 9:00 to 6pm)… all extra hrs would count as overtime.
Also, after they work/ stay at there for 3 years, they can apply for citizenship and request family members to Canada.

i think it depends on their peering groups.. as my mom in Canada told me that they usually rent a basement (similiar to a flat in hk) with other friends together... For working, they will only work as part-time as you mention, usually works as Baby-siter...so it will much more flexible for them to have serveral boss(Ssss)..
and now my sister-in-law also hires a part-time jeijei to take care of her son...this jeijei is also Philipinos and is recommended by her neighbour... so it's really common in Canada now.
