my hubby wants to buy a gift for me. I have been thinking to buy a watch with re-sale value or a pair of diamond ear rings with re-sale value. my budget is $150k to $200K. I seldom go into the stores. any good recommendations? if buying diamond, where can find a good one?

I have no idea how many cts of diamond I can buy within my budget as it depends on cts and color and quality like u mentioned. I saw my friend wearing a pair of very big circle shape diamond ear rings. I found them very pretty as they are very shimmering. Besides going to the shops to buy it, are there any places u know can buy it. I remember my colleague bought diamond and asked the designer come to our office to discuss how to make a ring or a bracelet etc...

I think u need to know how many budget first.!
If u no idea , u can go to TST / Central / nameplate....there have many jewelry shop to select.
Please note that the heart-shaped & Em cut are more particularly. this is my suggestion ^^
i am jewelry designer , but my office is a small enterprise ..^^..HAHA

If you do not already have a pair of round stud earrings, I suggest you get a pair of 1 carat each side round shape good quality (i.e. say E color VVS2) earrings. Cost will be around $150,000. It will be much more practical than a watch.

If you budget can go up to $200k, then you can use the difference to buy a watch as well.

Do bear in mind that 1 carat size diamonds and watches do not really preserve value as much as most people think.

go to Chow Sang Sang or Chow Tai Fok, get some ideas what you want first. If you want to buy an ear studs, try to put it on first, see is it too small on you!
For your budgets, you also can get over 1 carats diamond ring, or nice watch with diamond! diamond watch depends on how ofter you will wear.
If you talking about re-sales value, watch go for Rolex, diamond go for round shape.

thank you all for your invaluable suggestions. I passed by few shops in Central today...just window shopping a bit. Didn't go into the shops as it rained all day today...no mood to stay longer.

i'll try to study about diamond this week, as i have no knowledge about the VVS2 one mum mentioned. Hope to purchase either a watch or the ear rings as my christmas gift. Thanks again everyone!

Yeah, 150-200k can have a trip to Europe and get a birkin there( if luck enough)

you are right, if goal is to preserve value then Birkin is much better than diamond earrings or watches, and for that budget can get 2-3 bags from HK store, problem is they are not easy to come by though

I have never thought about owning a hermes handbag. I'm curious where will the mums go when they carry their Birkin. I saw 2 colleagues in my office carrying Birkin. Isn't it odd if I carry the Birkin to take public transportation. I only drive during weekend. But I must say Birkin bag is beautiful...

I still think out of the 3 - diamond earrings, watch and Birkin, diamond earrings is the best in terms of being most practical with the most usage.

You can carry the birkin to take public transport - why not, it's a personal choice.
