Is it normal to "throw things" when 18 month-old?

My son like to throw up the toys or cards, and seems enjoy to see they fall & with the sound hitting the floor. He treats this as a game. Do your kids also like that? Is this the usual behaviour of a 18 month-old kid? Others may think he is impolite. Should I stop him? Any comment pls.

My son is 1 year old. Also like to throw up the toys, too.

It is normal, my three children and all my friend's children all have the same behavior like this. Don't worry! but you have to be careful the children throw the things out the window.

My son also likes to throw things and I always blame him when he did so.

Actually, I don't know whether I should blame him. Maybe it is normal behaviour and he discovered 地心x力. Or, whether you think it is a bad habit?

That's why I'm not sure whether to blame him or not. Maybe his scientific & creative mind is growing now. Stopping him may restrict his curiosity.

Any experience parents can share with us?

Hi,

It is normal for baby to throw items, they want to discover how the world is operated, the consequence of things happened.

Think about it, it is really good that your kid find interesting on everything and everything around him and is eager to discover more. Curiosity is a good motivation to learn. As far as the objects is safety for throwing, let the kids do so. The kid will stop throwing after a lot of his little experiments.

If you over response (e.g. blame him) to your kids when he throwing objects, your kids will find that your response is interesting and shall continue to do so to see how you will response. "Over response" cannot effectively stop the kid to do what you do not want him to do so.

My daughter will be 3 years old in 2 months, I have experienced the same situation as you all described when my girl was 1-2. I learn the above from a US baby web site, and it really work for me. Hope the above could help.
