I have tried taking 2 years old to the cinema. Result is total failure. Eventually both adults and children are not able to complete watching the movie. Don't know how much three years old will be better.
I think this depends on kids. When my boy was 1 year old, he's okay when we entered to watch the 4D movie in Disneyland. A year later, we had a very poor experience for the same movie. Also when watching the Stitch movie.
He's not okay in ordinary cinema too some time later.
Although I don't really like to bring my boy to cinema, I would like to know whether he's okay last summer (when he's over 4). So I tried to use that method and he said he would like to have a look. I also prepared him by telling him the environment and also tried a similar experience at home first. He's quite nervous when he's in the cinema at first. But afterwards, he's okay.
