我都知貴有貴養 / 平有平養, 但我真係對於在澳洲養 b b 既費用豪毫無概念, 因為我打算做 full time mom, 所以想知要先儲幾多錢, 加埋老公要賺幾多先得, 想計劃下, 請問有冇媽媽幫下我?
唔計基本供樓 / 養車 / 保險 / 水電煤之類既生活費, 淨係講養一個 b b 到佢五六歲要既費用, :

1. B B 日用品 : 食物 / 尿片 / B B 車大約幾多錢一個月? (例如我兩隻貓一個月貓糧與貓砂約 $ 200, 大約都會有條數)
2. 讀書 : 幼稚園 / 小學學費 / 校服費 / 書簿費約幾多錢一個月? (假如讀最普通既政府學校, 冇話要學琴學乜學物)

唔計睇醫生 / 買衫 / 買玩具之類, 因為呢 d 奢侈品人人唔同, 好難計, 但食, 用, 讀書應該會有個數, 請問有冇媽媽幫下我?

be honest, if you are eligible for the baby bonus, it already help a lot.

you can go to family assistance office / centrelink web-site, they have calculator, input the income, will give you an estimate benefit.

B B 車, price range from $1xx - $1xxx, so really depends on your budget.
B B Car Seat, COT, change table etc, price are vary, all depends on your budget.

Our baby stroller was $159 (promotion), car seat was hundred something. As long as they are safe, doesn't matter. (my opinion)

2. 讀書 : 幼稚園 / 小學學費 / 校服費 / 書簿費約幾多錢一個月? (假如讀最普通既政府學校, 冇話要學琴學乜學物)

kids go to school at age 5 in Australia. if you want to safe $$, look after your kid until age 5~

we do send our kid to childcare centre twice a week because we want him to have some social skills. he just turned 2 and been in childcare centre for 2.5months.

Could you please also tell me how much is baby diapers & foods cost per month in your case?
Do you think $ 300-500 is enough?

Regarding to your childcare centre, is it run by the government or private? Do you mind telling me the cost/rate too? I'd like to send my kid to one of those too so I can get a part-time job to help out, but if my part time work wages can not cover the childcare rate then there's no point...

One more question (sorry for bothering you), how do you teach your kid Chinese?
I don't have any relos here but would be great if my kids to be able to speak Cantonese at least (plus mandarin would be nice), is it weird if I speak Chinese at home with them but switch to English if daddy's here?
I'm now practicing with my cats, so that I can get used to 'talking to myself' in Chinese at home, (not that my cats understands any languages anyway), it's hard man...

I have been teaching Chinese to BBC kids age 6-14 in UK before, once a week, most of them have Hong Kong parents (not mix race) means that they must have been speaking Chinese at home all their lives, but I realized most of them still couldn't speak Chinese properly, let alone reading & writing, which makes me really worry...

food cost is miminal for the first 1-2years. My little boy was exclusive breadfed, only bought 2-3 cans formula, still have an unopened one at home. Now he is 2, food cost is around 50-60% of ours as he is a food lover. He sometimes eat more than me!

Nappy cost was the major cost. When he was NB, used around 10-12 nappies a day, but gradully reduce when he grow. Go to coles / safeway to check the nappy price so give you an idea.

We send our boy to the private childcare, paying A$70 a day but we are eligible for childcare benefit and rebate so actual cost is less. CCB and CCR are income tested benefit.

I always speak English to my boy so his cantonese speaking is very poor but he can understand. (I need to speak more cantonese to him!!!)

If you want your baby speak cantonese, then you only speak cantonese to him, and let daddy speak english.

My friend, she only speaks cantonese to the kids, daddy only speaks thai, boy is now 3, no problem to have conversation in cantonese / thai.

Another friend, only speak Chinese at home, kids speak Chinese to parents, but speak English between siblings.

Your friend's case is like my 姑丈姑姐 in UK, their kids only speak Chinese at home when parents were there (if 姑丈 heard a word of English at home he would hit them, very strict), all four BBC kids still grown up speaking bad Cantonese...

pretty much all NB use the similar amount of nappy a day. wee/poo every meal.

if you keep talking to your baby every single day. explain what is going on, what is happening (you may feel like you are an idiot) but just keep talking to them. kids should have pretty good cantonese. you know, some parents don't talk to kids.
