When we first decided to look for a fertility treatment, we were having Kaiser insurance. So, we went to Kaiser to do a whole bunch of testes and 5 IUIs (all failed). It took about 1 1/2 year for the waiting period to see a doctor until finished 5 IUIs. Then I changed my insurance company to United Health Care HMO the following year. I went to another OBGYN doctor to ask for fertility treatement and she transferred me to FPNC. The people in FPNC are very nice and professional. Since they are a private clinic, once you call to make an appointment, you can see a doctor pretty quick. Since I did most of the testes in Kaiser, they just asked me to get my record from there, so I didn't have to re-do most of my testes. My experience there was good. I am actually working on my 2nd baby there this month. I am doing the FET this time.
In term of price, my insurance covered most of it, I only needed to pay ~$9,000 for one ivf treatment. FPNC also provides packages. One of the package is one ivf treatment plus one FET within a year for ~$14,000. They were misleading me at that time that I could claim the money back from my insurance, so I picked the package instead. (But actually, my insurance was not allowing us to do that...although if we decided not to buy the package and went with our insurance for 1 IVF and 1 FET, we would have to pay the same price....but since I didn't need the FET after the IVF, I wasted some money there).
I am glad I can help you. If you need more info, please let me know.

yoyocutie,
Congratulation! Would you mind sharing your experience at FPNC and how much did you spend for the IVF treatment?
I don't know that there is insurance covering fertility treatment. My insurance does not cover any fertility treatment at all and I'm paying for it out-of-pocket which is extremely expensive. I'm currently getting fertility treatment at Palo Alto Medical Foundation.
Did you buy the Kaiser insurance and United Health Care HMO personally or it is provided by your employer?
It's from my employer. How much are you paying now? Are you in the process of getting IVF treatment yet?
I just got my result today...it's a negative >_<.. I still have 2 more embryos left. I will be doing one more FET on the next cycle.

Since you have IUI experience, I would like to get some advice from you.
I had the Ovidrel HCG trigger on Friday at 2pm and my doctor asked to do an IUI on Sunday at 10am. I wonder if it will be too late? I searched the web and most of them said ovulation will occur 24 to 36 hours after the Ovidrel trigger shot. If I do IUI on Saturday Morning, it will be too early..... but Sunday Morning is more than 36 hours already.....seems too late!
I'm very afraid that I will miss the ovulation window and waste money to do an IUI on Sunday.
Sorry for the late reply. How come they asked you to give a shot that early? In my case, when they knew my egg was ready, they would check what was the avaliable time for the IUI, then they counted back the good time for me to take the HCG shot. So mine was always within 36 hours. Anyways, you are already in your 2WW (wait weeks), I hope you success. I am working on my 2nd FET. I should be doing the transfer on 10/30. Hope we both can be pregnant soon.
By the time I did the IUI, it was already 44 hours after the HCG shot. My doctor said it is okey because Egg can live for 12 to 24 hours, so it is better to have the egg waiting for the sperm because washed sperm can live for 12 hours only.
Today is 7 days post IUI, but my breast is not sore and my BBT is around 98.1 only..... I'm afraid I will fail this time!!!

cross my fingers for you! :)
Thanks! What kind of pregnancy symptom did you have on your first pregnancy?
So far, I don't have any breast pain and cramp and my BBT is around 98 to 98.1 only and I haven't seen any implantation spotting....... most people said that BBT should go above 98.6 if pregnant and their breast is very sore and spotting around 7 to 10 day post ovulation.
I only had the cramp feeling. It feels like your normal cramp before the period comes. So at that time, I thought I was gonna failed. Also, some pulling sensation around the Ovary area, but not frequent before the pregnancy confirmation. Other than that, I didn't have any pregnancy symptom at all...not even morning sickness. I didn't check the BBT at that time.
My first IUI failed........ period came today :< Feel a little down.....I'm thinking if I should try another IUI right away or give it a break. Somehow I have no confidence that the second IUI will work.
I spend about $1300 for each IUI at Palo Alto Medical Foundation with no insurance coverage, so I'm hesitated to pay another around of money for that........ I might want to wait till my job starts and get some insurance coverage for the fertility treatment.
I hope you will conceived successful this cycle. I wonder why you need fertility treatment?
I'm in my late 20s and started trying to conceive three years ago. I found out that I had Endometriosis and Uterine Polyps last years and did a surgery to remove the chocolate cysts and polyps. However, I still cannot conceive after the surgery......
I am so sorry to hear that. But don't worry, since you are so young, even though if IUI couldn't help you, you still can try the IVF. It has higher successful rate for woman who is in young age.
I am older that you. I will be 34 soon. My hubby has low sperm count, so IVF is my only hope. I wish I don't need to work on the IVF again.
When are you start working? Once when you work, you will have the insurance on day 1. Or is your hubby working now? His company should provide you the insurance benefit too?!
