I only take Shinkansen for the route between 新宿 and 軽井沢, so I will not buy JR Pass. I understand it cost JPY5xxx, but I have a question. Is it a single ticket for the route between 新宿 and 軽井沢? That I only need to buy it at JR Shinjuku station without having to buy another one at the interchange station e.g. 大宮?

如你由新宿去軽井沢, 車票內已包有關的車費, 大宮只不過是轉車站, 不需要另買一程車票.

Thanks very much. So when I buy the tickets, do I need to specify to the staff that I interchange at 大宮? As Tokyo station is another interchange station. Or they will suggest to me which route is as fast but at lower costs?

BTW, I have to buy the tickets at JR counter, right? Could I buy it at the JR office at Narita Airport when I buy Nex+suica cards? So that I could select seats for next day trip to Karuizawa?
