My little boy is 2 years and 3 months old now, and we live in U.S. right now. I've been thinking to stay in Macau with him for at least 6 months until he's almost 3. I grew up in Macau and my own family is still in Macau.
By the way, he's still not potty-trained yet (still wearing diaper), but he can talk in fluent Cantonese.
Just wondering if there're any good international preschools for 2-year-olds in Macau?? I meant - the ones that're more Americanized, so that he won't have any problems adjusting to the school life here when back to U.S.

We call pre-school nusery schools in Macao, and I don't really think there is an americanzed nusery school in here, there is one which used English, however, most of the teachers there are philipines, and you should know very well about THEIR english. At the same time, it is not cheap at all, it costs about 3000 per month.
The nursery my baby is in now is not really international, but you can find kids talking different languages, like Cantonese(of course), English, Portuguese, etc., but they mainly speaks Cantonese in the class. There are about 2 - 4 teachers in a class, with about 20-25kids in it. One of them speaks English and Portuguese, their food is also a bit more Portuguese, with potatoes and stuff for lunch, so I think you kid can easily get into it. The price is also okay, fopr Macao citizen $1280, if not, $1500.. (I don't know whether you are still Macao citizen)
Oh~~ I forget to tell you the name of it ~ Santa Casa~ 仁慈堂~~
the nursery/child-care in here is a bit different than preschool. preschools are usually a little more academic than nursery (i.e. will teach the kids more academically).
in here, nursery starts from 0-3yr, preschool 3-5yr (some starts from 1.5 yr or 2yr), kindergarten starts from 5-yr-old (only for a year, then go up to 1st grade).
so, i'm looking for a preschool/nursery for 2-yr-old.
btw, my boy is almost a month younger than yr girl.
stephanie looks great and seems to behave!
my boy is killing me! that's why i've been thinking to move closer to my mom whom i can get help from.

yes, my girl goes to santa casa, and she is enjoying herself there~~
She is learning how to read and wrtie, but she has a lot of craft to do, like cutting, painting, etc. She has also learnt a lot of songs (both English and Chinese)there.
If your boy is younger than my girl, I don't think he can go to kindergarten. Here, kids start going to kindergarten at three, sometimes one or two months earlier~~
If that's the case, I think you may like Santa Casa, cos most of the foreign kids go there~~
They don't have a website, but here's a little information about it, maybe you can go and check~~
when did yr girl start going to nursery? did she get sick pretty often?
i'm a bit afraid what if my boy got sick, coz i don't trust the doctors, pharmacists, and hospitals in Macau. i know their quality since i grew up there.
btw, does the nursery ask for the kids' immunization records before starting school? i think the immunization requirements in Macau might be different.
do they take new kids any time throughout the year as long as space is available, or need to wait til next academic year starts?
SY_Mom,
My girl started school when she was 1 and a half, she got sick once in a while when she started, but not too often. I think no matter what schools you go to, or how good the schools are, it is unpreventable for a kid to get sick.
They take new kids whenever they have space, but it's always full, so you need to sign up and wait until they have space. My girl waited for about two months.... You will have to go to a doctor in macau (the one they assigned) and have a health certificate written.
