The reasons were difficult to find a good job and the living standard is too high...... Nearly 40% income tax!! Also don't forget Australia has GST!!! Your bank account never has much money.... :-(
Yes. I just returned from Sydney for vocation. I found the living standard is very high in Sydney, much higher than in HK now comparing with 10 years ago when I lived there.
You may need to lower your living standard by moving back. However, the living conditionings is so good and if you could earn your living, it is a good place to stay especially for those with children.
I'm new member, jsut come from Perth (Australia). I was live there five years for study, and met my honey there. we are palning will move back to Australia when our kids 3 years old. Hong Kong is good palce save money and earn money. here can easy get the good job and high income.
Yes, I totally agree with both. Australia is high living standard. However, there also is good for kinds grow up and study.
Can you share what is Perth like? I have not been to Perth before just want to know the living and job opportunity. I know Sydney got more chance but if I need to move to Sydney (too city) then I rather stay in HK.
Would it mean the cost of living in Sydney is high but you could also enjoy a better living environment there when compared with HK?
The salary in australia is comparatively low & this is the main hurdle for my moving to there.
I came back to Hong Kong from Australia 6 years ago because there was a large project and i volunteered to come back. Work-wise, there is more opportunity and exposure in Hong Kong and that was the key reason i came back.
The salary is comparatively low, true - but with the economy growing steadily over the last 10 years and the relatively strong AUD (v USD/HKD) the difference isn't that much. The mian difference will be the taxes.
The property prices in sydney has boomed way out of hand, so much so that the chief of RBA is recommending young couples buy properties in other cities.
Having said that, I think the environment is great for kids growing up, there are more spaces for them to play, and there is a large chinese communicaty in Sydney (if that is what you need). And more place to go and relax in Australia within reach of driving - which is very difficult in Hong Kong.
