My baby was born on 14/9/04 in QMH.
I am not that successful in breastfeeding
But I could pump 1 oz out every time...
It's hard to get up at the middle of the night but I will try my best!

How's your angel? My boy is very demanding in feeding, he eats a lot that requires me to feed him almost an hour each time and he still seems not satisfying :cry: I feel like I m a full time 奶媽 now
my little cutie thing is doing fine. You know, I have been busy with her physical condition. Last week, she needed to stay in the hospital 2 times for phototheraphy 'coz she turned yellow. The yellow index was 303 at first then it droped after treatment so we could took her home. However, the index bouced back again for the follow-up doctor appointment....then she was set back for treatment again. You know, my husband and I runing back and forth to QM everyday last week. Hopefully, the doctor satisfied with her conditions yesterday and we could go to the health Cetre for follwo-up checking. Thanks God!!!
For my feeding condition, I had no mama milk in the first few days. I felt so bad about myself, I thought she was starving for the first few days. It may be the reason why she turned yellow....she drank no milk and got dehydrated. It was why I were a little bite mad at the nurse at QM. You know, after delivery, we were so tired and weak but the nurse push me to breast feed the baby. I know the early to start breast feed, the early I got stimulation. However, I had no milk and I asked the nurse to feed her with formula as suppliment but some nurse refuse to do so and said it would make the baby confused......but, what about she had no food and hurt her physical condition. My baby teurned yellow and we need to go to the children dividion to follow-up and the children doctor said it's normal to had no milk at the begining and you should feed the baby with a bit formula as suppliment. Oh....gees....why they have 2 explainations! well, I blamed myself with no milk for her even I tried hard to feed her and my nipples hurt so much...bleeding. About 5 days after delivery, I have milk (but not much --> one once for 1-hour pumping). I use pump to pump the milk out for her. I drank many "papaya fish soup" and it helps. Now, I can can pump more, I can pump 2.5-3 oz every 3 hours to feed her. I feel more secure to use this method. First, I know how much she drinks....second, I won't get hurt of my nipples. I will try to feed her by myself when my nipples fully recovered. Now, I feed her with 6-7 times mama milk and 1-2 times formula. she gained weight. She was 3.18kg at first, now she is 3.5kg.
For the nappy thing.....I use huggies and napia...both were good. However, I need to change However, I need to use 12-15 nappy every days. Sometimes, when we help her to change a new one, she will pee pee or poo poo at once...so change again.

#13, my hubby n I insisted not to feed our boy with formula in hospital thus my boy had 葡萄糖水 in the first few days b4 i can feed him my milk, his weight drops a lot and even i feed him my milk on demand now, he still doesnt pick up the weight at born. i think i hv no choice but to supplement w formula. How do u arrange your cutie's schedule? mama milk in daytime and formula at nite?? i m worried my boy's weight now as m afraid my milk supply is not enough for him. In these 2 days, i hv to wake up almost every hour to feed him in the midnight, it really makes me crazy - i cried for his non-stop demand and my unability to satisfy him!!
I am doing similar thing with you. I can't stand my BB being starving and dehydrating on the first few days when i have no milk, so i supplement him with formula. Now i have milk production, but my BB is not willing to suck my nipple anymore. So i pump out milk regularly and feed him both breast milk and formula.
I agree with you that this help me not hurting my nipple, baby is fed more comfortably, and i can know how much milk he has been fed.
But i would like to ask, what kind of pump you are using? I am just using my hands, i can pump out 1 oz for half an hour, i can see the milk production is increasing......but quite tiring.... i have tried Avent manual pump but it is not working on me at all. I can't pump out milk by using it. Is that i am using it wrongly? any special technique to use it?

I also sometimes feel stressful for feeding so frequently, and i cried several times already. But i am sure the condition will be improving as BB will be feeding much more smoothly later. Let's work hard!
I believed every mama wants to feed the baby with pure mama milk. However, mama will be very tiring and the milk production will not be good without rest. Now, I feed my cutie little thing as the following schedule:
1:00am - mama milk
4:00am - formula (feed by maid, I definitly go to sleep)
7:00am - mama milk
10:00am - mama milk
1:00pm - mama milk
4:00pm - mama milk or formula (depends on my physical conditions)
7:00pm - mama milk
10:00 - mama milk
I will pump the milk out 45 mins before the feeding time. I can get sleep from 2:00am-6:00am (if I feel tired, I will sleep again from 2:00pm-6:00pm). Thus, I have at least 4 hours non-disturbing rest or even more). It is very important for us. Without rest....we'll be crazy and no milk. Besides, thry to take a nap at the interval, it helps. Don't push yourself too hard, mama is human being.
You know, I feel very nervious in the first few days 'coz I have no experience in taking care of new-born baby and there is not nurse at home to help when emergency. I could not sleep and like a watch- dog staying behind the baby cot. I also mad at my husband...he knew I were totally exhausted and asked me to go to sleep and he fed the baby at night with formula. Well.....he watched the fooball games and fell in asleep and the baby cried so bad for milk....then (3 hrs later) he set the alarm but forgot to activate it and the baby cried so bad again(gees.....I were so angry with him and cried in front of him. I told him that I were so stressful to be a mother....afraid of not taking good care of the baby....he wanted to help but he was so carless and how can I trust his performance) He was so sorry for me and apologised to me. Actually, my husband was exhausted too. I feel very usefull to let your husband know how you feel (even you blame on him), it helps to release stress. Now, we have more experience in baby caring. We take turns in feeding the baby with amam milk, bathing the baby and nappy changing (my husband takes one-mth leave 'coz he has many Annual leave and he is a civic servant).
For the milk pump, I use the "Medela" (Mini Electric Breastpump). It's very good and usefull. I can use electric supply at home or use 2A batteries outside. i hope my sharing can help you.
My baby has her first visity at Health Centre this morning. everything is fine. I try to feed her with my nipples for the last 3 meals. It's OK. I push her to drink at least 25-30 mins each time so she won't be hurry again in a short time. I just pump out 3 oz of mama milk for reserve 'coz I will go out with my husband for shopping (2 hours).

Don't push yourself too hard. Feed your baby with some formula...you are not iron-lady. Your health is important too.
she gained weight. She was 3.18kg at first, now she is 3.5kg.
