format hard disk

would anyone help me to format a hard disk, what is the comment typing into the dos, i use the win 2000 ????? How can I do ???thanks

Are you talking about the re-installation of Windows 2000 in a brand new hard disk or add addition hard disk

You need to install the jumper correctly before you format your hard disk or other your computer may not be able to recognize the new hard disk.

For New installation of Windows 2000, you simply reboot your computer with CD-ROM enable.

For additional hard disk, you need to right mouse button | manage
click Disk management, right click the new hard disk and select Format.

If your computer support Boot CD, you can put the CD ROM to boot up and follow the instructions.

If not, you can download the boot up disk from -> here <-.

You need to ready a blank floppy disk, Extrack to a floppy disk.

You then put the boot disk in floppy and then put the CD-ROM in the drive. After the system boot up you need to type the following command

d:
setup

But I really think Windows 98 is must stable than Windows ME. The installation procedure is the same.

I can't even find my new hard disk in Disk Management in my computer, why? How can I format it? tks

Did you setup the slave mode for your secondary hard disk?

You can enter the BIOS setting, by press "Del" key while boot up, you can detect your secondary hard disk. If your hard disk setting is correct, you will be able to detect and see the hard disk.
