My maid told me that her father passed away two weeks ago and she requested to go back to the Philippines for funeral. She was requested to return to work yesterday but she failed to do so.
In fact, after she left, I received many calls from finance company and her friends for return of loan.
Is there anyone out there got similar experience?
I should appreciate if anyone would suggest me what to do in the following,
1) Can I terminate the contract now?
2) Can I terminate the contract if she returns a few days later?
3) Is there any organization that I can refer to if the finance company keep bothering me? (I've never signed any documents for her)
4) Will the finance company trace her in the Philippines?
Have your maid gave a letter to you to state the reason she need to back to Phillipine and with the scheduled day back to H.K. If u get that letter, you can go to the labour dept to open a file to claim her one month notice and inform Immigration dept that she terminate the contract with you without any notice.If she haven't write down anything to u, u better call the agent to call her.
I just had a similar experience as you, but I have a better luck that so far, I still have not received any call from finance companies. In fact, I expect I would have some since I did find payment receipts of my maid to some finance company.
What I did is as follows:
1. Write a letter to Immigration department to terminate her contract. In the letter, I also describe the whole story.
2. Inform the police. Just to get a file number to claim insurance if possible.

All other info given from the others are good, but file the record with police is a must and get the relevent file no, also send a registered fast mailr to her home and inform her if she doesn't contact u within a day upon receive yr letter, then u'll file the claim on her accordingly. Remember to keep the copy of the letter as a record.
