I think playgroup is for the babies who are up to 2 years old. And children learn in a relaxing and creative environment by singing songs and playing games as my daughter really enjoys attending the playgroup lessons with the native english speaker.
The most amazing thing is my daughter try to blurt out some English words naturally. So I think that's a good way for children to learn English without any pressure.
If you are interested in it, you can call the centre and it is located in Yuen Long called 'Smart English'

Thx first about Hin Hin... but he is so under weight & I am trying to find ways to make him fat lor! About playgroup... I will give them a call & see... hope they have something la! How's the one that KoKo is joining lei?
koko really likes it. And she trys to sing some songs at home. and she always ask me when we will go the centre again? and that centre also teach the children discipline. And they talked about your children after the lesson to let the parents know how their children behave in class. So I think they really concern the children.
Thx for the info... just called Smart English. They are going to have a new class for 18 months old... they said if Hin Hin start BB talk, they might take him lei.
Be Be Yan Ma Ma,
The class will start around Sept 20. The place is located @ YL ctr 5/F across from library. U know where? R u interested? I am going to try put Hin Hin on list even he's a little young...
What is playgroup?
Playgroup is for children aged 0-4 years and their parents or carers. Close to 36,000 families attend playgroup each week in all corners of Victoria at community venues such as maternal and child health centres, kindergartens, halls, community centres and primary schools.
Playgroups are as different as the people in them. Some of the different models include Roster, Paid leader and Special interest playgroups.
What children get from playgroup
Playgroup-aged children are going through a stage of rapid brain and skill development. At playgroup children can:
develop their skills of cooperation through music, group singing, free play and snack time
develop verbal and non verbal communication skills through their contact with other children and adults
develop fine and gross motor skills
gain better body control, hand to eye coordination, spatial awareness and balance when they play with balls, sand, blocks, puzzles, playdough, paint and paste
discover shape, size, texture, quantity and consistency when they play with dough and clay
learn to recognise colours, develop fine motor skills and express emotions by experimenting with paint, collage, chalk, crayons and stamps
extend their experience of literacy in a social environment.
Why adults go to playgroup
Playgroup can be a lifeline to parents with children aged 0-4 years who might not have any other opportunity to get to know local parents going through similar experiences.
We hear from lots of parents each year at Playgroup Victoria . These are some of their reasons for attending playgroup.
"Friendship."
"The playgroup has been going for years and there's a good supply of toys, play equipment, books and a great outdoor area."
"It's giving my child some stimulating experiences in a relaxed, informal setting."
"It opens up the community to you. Before I went to playgroup I had no idea where the best places were to go locally for a good children's doctor or that you could go to the hall down the road for immunisations."
"I want to meet people who
hi there,if you dont mind going all the way to TST, I so suggest you should try on The Little Gym, I just enrolled my son for 18 sessions, is quite expensive though, it caused me about $3000++, but I'm more into the physicall improvement and to increase his social skills more....he likes it very much, it's definetely suitable for an active kid!
And ofcourse to remind all the parents out there, please think carefully about choosing playgroup and the courses for your child. Please bear in mind that there are plently of playgroups out there are just mainly "play"group, they have no solid programme or structure for the course, get a trial before you enrol.
Please dont set your expectation too high on your children, there are still really young, just let them expose more, its definetely will be an advantage for them in future. It create a strong bonding with the parents and ofcourse it builds confidence too.
