She has married last year and wanted a papsmear check!
She told me that she wanted to check and to claim thru the insurance from me!
She said that there is a Philippino doctor at the Gov't clinic in Wanchai. The doctor will refer them for checking and then she can claim thru the maid's insurance package!!! Is it real? She also ask me if she can go for a body check and claim me???
I told her my insurance covers only sickness, not checking. It seems that she can ask the doctor to write a referral letter and then claim me.
I wanted to know if I need to cover all her medical expenses even if she goes to seek consultation at private hospital? Or I can give only what the insurance company can offer? DO I need to pay the excess? How about if she came back some night and said that she was sick in the daytime, and she found at doctor whick was very expensive. Do I still need to pay for her consultation fees?
She has been here for the 7th Year with me. She heard her friend said she can claim medical expenses and so she asked me. I am afraid that under the Labour Ordinance, it is the employer's responsibility to cover her medical exoenses. If she goes to see a doctor chargiing a high rate, we still need to pay the excess from the insurer. The agreement that we can appoint designated doctor for her only may be an agreement, not bind by law!!
I am reallly afraid that she may abuse her right!!
On the other hand, she was a midwife graduate in Philippine. She has a high hygiene standard on herself. SHe brushes her teeth more than 4 times a day. She request for thorough cleaning of teeth once a year but I told her that it was not included. Then she washed them everytime she went back to Phil. This time, she requested for papsmear only just to check before she plan to get pregnant. She is planning to leave next summer for a baby! That is why she is keen to work out all examination here, at the employer's expenses!!
Agree. The practice of the doctor is illegal. Ask her the name of the Philippino Doctor at Govt. clinic and complain it to the Hospital Authority or Medical Department. Even he has not done so, this can prevent him from abusing his rights to make referrals just to help Philippinos to claim insurance.
Besides, the maid has so many unreasonable demands. I will fire her immediately to avoid troubles and loss of money. It is very likely that she find herself having a serious sickness or she has an intention to cheat for insurance money before leaving HK.
Elective medical procedures and body check are not included in the agreement. If she wants to claim she must proof with a doctor's letter saying the test is "essential", not a personal choice (elective). Even vaccine shots are not included.
Of course you can get to choose a doctor...a cheaper one. She cannot force you to go to a doctor of her choice and expect u to pay.
