I would like to share my experience as I currently employ one local Philippines maid who have not completed her contract and she breaks the contract by herself.
The maid must return Philippines and wait for the issue of the new visa. She is not allowed to stay in HK to wait for the visa. After the issue of the visa, either you or the agent will mail it over to Philippines, it usually takes another 1 week for her in Philippines to process with the medical check & air ticket and then come to HK.
The above is not big deal but only time issue. One big point you must be aware of. The agent usually charge both employer & maid agency fee separately. Some "bad" agent will treat this unfinished contract maid as brand new one and charges the maid over HK$10,000 - 12,000 fee. The problem is whether your maid realize such high fee in advance and do they have the money to pay. For the maid, they can pay partial payment in HK and then the balance in Philippines after the visa is issued. So when you have visa issued finally, you have to pray if you maid have the money to pay in Philippines. If she did not pay, the agent will not release the visa to your maid.
Better check everything with the agent & your maid on the above. Make sure you obtain the Philippines contact number of your new maid for your easy contact. No need to depend on the agent who is only money conscious.
it is risky to hire this kind of maid, my ex-maid claimed is new to HK, however when she first arrive, she bring a mobile phone with her and a long list of telephone list showing over 100 local phone no. My maid also resign after 4 months and had found a new employer in HK and then back to Indo. to wait for the visa now.....The agent help them a lot....cause a lot of agent fee ah!!!
For my case, it takes almost 1 month for the visa issue. I think it depends as my case is a replacement, not additional one (I had one maid and the visa could only be issued upon the completion of the contract of my previous maid). rgds, annie
Yes, I agree. It takes me lot lot.... of courage to employ this kind of "break contract" maid as her employer refused to do any reference check.
My maid was the one to break the contract with her previous employer.
She have been working with me for 1 month, her performance is ok. rgds, annie
