when do you start feeding your baby rice?

my 21 months old daughter refuses to eat rice, no matter how tasty the dishes are (e.g. steamed chicken), she only like eating thick congee.
I worry that it will affect her speech ability, as people are saying that chewing can help improve speech ability.
any suggestion to attract my daughter change her meal habbit. thanks a lot

I did do it step by step, my daughter start eating congee since 7 months old, and then, we make the congee thicker and thicker since she was 15 months old.
is there any tricks to make our baby start eating rice? Please advise

I gave my daughter to eat rice at 1 yr old coz she refused to eat congee

You can try to feed your baby with small cubes of carrot/cheese/kiwi/papaya (anything she likes most) to practise chewing. By the way, is there enough teeth for her to chew? :lol:

she has a lot of teeth, about 14 (more than my 99 :lol: ). so I think eating solid food should be fine for her lah, but she just does not want to.
actually, she does not like eating at all, all the times, we have to turn on the TV so as to encourage her to eat.
Is it my own girl's problem or a lot of babies are the same too.

My maid and I keep trying, but she will throw out the rice we just put in her month , that makes me very upset and sometime cannot control my temper

Is it too early for her to eat rice that's why she refuses? Or she is just playing me?

Same like "Dorchiu" bb, my girl start to eat rice when she is 12mos. She refuse to eat congee, cereal as she saw us eat something different with her (we eat rice)! :evil:
My b is 18mos, most of my fd bb in this age is having both Congee + soft rice.

What kind of rice u give her, plain rice? with meat?
My girl hate we mixed the meat, vegetables inside her rice, she like to have it separately.

(1 spoon rice, then meat / vegetable).....
Did u eat together with your bb? I put my girl on the high chair & we won't on the TV when we are eating together (suggested by the nurse). We also pretend to eat something yummy (even it's not!) to encourage her....I even eat her food & pretend very Yummy & then feed her.
Don't give up,.....give her a little more time, she will love to eat it one day.

Agree with milka.

And, never let bb watching TV when taking meal or she will not be concentrated. If my bb cannot be calm when taking meal, I will just let her hold a small toy on hand to calm her down (but not usually

it is a long story.
my daughter was taken care by my 99 before 1 year old, my 99 used TV to encourage her to eat and drink, so, my daughter is addicted to this habbit.

Usually, I would mix the vegi and meat in the rice, I think it is more balanced. Let me try your way.

I seldom eat with my daughter as I used to work and come home no earlier than 8pm sometime even work till mid-night / morning. I know it is good to eat with baby, I would try it during weekend.
