我在小學時已看「獅王、女巫、衣櫥」, 小孩子在衣櫥內通往另一個世界, 表面上是個愛與冒險的科幻故事, 實在隱藏了很多基督教的比喻在當中。我最近買了一本台灣出的「獅王、女巫、衣櫥」兒童繪本畫冊, 準備再過一會便開始讀給我的小朋友聽。因為現在正在讀西遊記給他聽。

Narnia故事系列共有七個故事, 包括:

1) The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
「獅王、女巫、衣櫥」,
2) Prince Caspian「開司平王子(賈斯潘王子 )」,
3)The Voyage of the Dawn Treader「黎明號的遠航」
4) The Silver Chair「銀椅子」,
5) The Horse and His Boy「馬背上的小孩(奇幻馬和傳說)」,
6) The Magician's Nephew「魔術師的外甥」, and
7) The Last Battle「最後的戰役」。
現在廸士尼有可能全部會拍成影片, 看此link。

妳在網上所見的那個sequence是順著故事的內容的時序的sequence, 但真實出版書的次序則是我在上面寫的那個sequence.
看故事時先看「獅王、女巫、衣櫥」, 然後再看其他, 會逐漸將一些故事中的人或事作深一些的交代.
如果順著chronological的時序看便會少了些驚喜, 魔幻的味道...
以下是一個外國網友對chronological order的看法.

The Chronicles of Narnia are perfect books. They are wonderful for children and adults, and can be read again and again. C. S. Lewis was a brilliant author and theologian, and was competent in what he was doing. I have been reading these books since I was young enough to pick up a book, and I was horrified when I found out they were reprinting them in chronological order! Why have the publishers decided to tamper with the order? Reading these books in chronological order spoils all of the surprise and magic out of the first visit to Narnia (in The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe), because we already know what's going on. You're not supposed to know about the lightpole (返回人間的一個記號) or who the professor (小孩子的UNCLE) is yet! Things don't always need to be put in chronological order. If you're going to read them, please read them in the correct order: 1) The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, 2) Prince Caspian, 3)The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, 4) The Silver Chair, 5) The Horse and His Boy, 6) The Magician's Nephew, and 7) The Last Battle.

I have read the biography of C.S. Lewis - SHADOWLAND (i.e. a film broadcasted many yrs ago).

It's nice and touching, esp. talking about the suffering of his wife . It also enables me. to have a more comprehensive picture about C.S. Lewis.

I have just finished the book "Shadowlands - A true story of C.S. Lewis & Joy Davidman" a week ago; now I am reading "Shadowlands - based on the screenplay", near finished, at the last chapter.

I would like to read more of his works, but don't know which is easier to read. If there is no suggestion from others, I would like to take "Mere Christianity" the next, when I have time. (I have a list of books waiting for me to finish, including "The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe".

I have tried "Lord of the Ring", but the wordings seems a bit difficult for me; I think I have to view the film first.

C. S. Lewis is one of my favourite authors.

Mere Christianity is really a great book. Good for both believers and unbelievers. It is amazing how Lewis can explain difficult concepts in such a simple and humourous way. He's a blessed one. Yet, the translated version is not as good as the original English one.

Screwtape Letters is inspiring. Reading the book make me think it is so easy for Satan to tempt us. We human are too vulnerable if we don't have God in our life.

I'm now reading Four Loves. This is a hard one but again a very good one. This is difficult because there are a lot of philosophical concepts in the book. It takes time to digest Lewis' words bits by bits and I really can't finish them all in a short period of time.

I'm also reading the Chronicles of Narnia. I ordered the books from Amazon thinking that they are the version for adults. It turned those are for kids. Yet, I still very enjoy reading the stories, as they are really wonderful. Yes, Aslan in Narnia, the lion, in the Chronicle represents our God in this world.

BTW, is the Shadowlands good book or not?

I think if you have already read so many C S Lewis's works, the Shadowlands by Brian Sibley might not be too interesting; it's just a very brief biography of Mr. Lewis, very concentrated on the meeting of his wife and their relationship. This is a very small pocket book. For the one based on the film, things are not so true, you can only treat it as a novel.

I have check out on the website recommended by Siu Ming, there are a list of good recommendation of which is the best book of C S Lewis biography. So, go and have a look and choose one.
