XX 應該係 is 定 are?

因為我囡話老師講"is",我唔知係佢聽錯定咩呢?

我又諗,會唔會is係按第一個noun係單定眾數而定呢?

The original sentences should be:
1. There is an apple.
2. There is an orange.

The answer should be 'is' as it describes the apple not the orange. Correct if i am wrong. Thanks!

但上網搵, 有人話係"match the verb with the most immediate noun." 所以照咁睇又應該係there is

係啦,我就係呢個意思,因為我都覺is係順口啲,我問個囡老師點解釋為何用is,但佢又答唔到我

照咁樣推斷,係咪,

1. There IS an apple and an orange on the table.

2. There ARE 2 apples and an orange on the table.

3. There IS an apples and 2 oranges on the table.
