It's our first baby. Advise is needed.
Which doctor is better? Book jor January 9 see doctor. I know it's very hard to find bed these days. Lots of questions going on in our minds...
Please help!!!!!
All the hospitals are very filled and they asked for the deposits at 6 weeks. I had a spot at Adventist but I gave it up as I am planning for QM. They wanted me to pay before I even had my first doctor appointment!
Are your queries only related to Sanatorium? If yes, I can't help. If no, I went to Matilda with my first baby in Feb this year. What are your queries?
The thing is, our parents want us to go to Sanatorium. And to my understanding and according to our doctor, it is already full during August.
So our best bet right now is to find a Sanatorium's doctor and hopefully he/se can do something about it...

Sorry, in that case can't help. My doctor pretty much sends all her patients to Matilda. When I booked Matilda last yr, they came back saying it was full. Then my doctor said, "don't worry, they've never turned away patients from this clinic before.". True to her words, the hospital sent me an email confirming the booking couple of weeks after that.
Sanatorium kinda changes its policy and u shd b able to secure a bed if u visit their panel doctors. If I have not mistaken they accept deposit at three months so if u r still within 3 months u shd b ok.
Many doctors from outside sanatorium won't b able to book a bed for you. The hospital wanna promote their own panel doctors that z why they save all the beds for hospital patients
Thank you all for all your input. They are all very informative and useful.
Yes, my wife and I will visit one in-house doctor early January. (and yes, we are still within 3 months)
And yes, we will post any update those who are also thinking of sanatorium.
Just be aware that the Sanatorium will undergo renovation during July - Sept 2012 as they are expanding their maternity ward to the 27/F. The current maternity units are on the 28th & 29th fl, hence, be prepared to be greatly disturbed by the noise; There's no guarantee that mother and baby can be allocated to the same floor during the expansion. Upon paying the deposit, the accounts dept will make sure you understand and accept the condition before taking it. Their in-house Dr, however, never relates this message to me.
So there you go, weigh the benefits. I was seeing 2 doctors: one private dr whom wants me to deliver at Matilda and one from the Sanatorium. In the end, we opt for the latter because we're guaranteed to be admitted. Next yr being a very hot yr for deliveries, bed security ranks high for us.
As to which Dr to see, it depends on what's your priority, bed security? Quality of prenatal service? Hospital choice? Dr's reputation?
My opinion on the Sanatorium: My ob/gyn Dr is precise and no non-sense. Long waiting time. Nurses are far from helpful and even have attitudes... There's no support from mid-wives whom'd be able to hold your hand step-by-step. The phone is hard to get through and I always had to leave a message and wait for them to get back to me. In case of emergency, that's not very accessible. They don't give away contacts of the Dr, one could only ring the ob/gyn dept, the downside of a structured hospital vs private practice.
