I went to Phuket in last Oct. I got 2 mobile sim cards for free after we passed the immigration at the Phuket airport. The cards contain a few bahts for making local calls. You can follow the instruction guide and top up the cards at 7-11. then you can use the cards for calls and/or 3G services. I could not get the 3G service as the network was not func tioning properly while thailand was suffering from floods.
