Do you prefer to hire a maid / a local babysitter to take care of newborn baby?
Do you think it's better to hire a maid or a local babysitter to take care of newborn baby? I am a bit scare and hesitated esp. when I read the news about mistreatment of the baby from maids lately.

I'm a mother of 2 kids and hire a Yan Yan. You need to consider the pros and cons.
You'll need a full-time helper to take care your newborn BB whether you're breastfeed or not especially during first few months, esp during the night time. It'll cost you more to hire a local helper, but they are good to take care the mother and BB.
In long term, if you are a working mother, you need to plan who will be responsible to take care your BB. Are you going to send BB to day-care / grandma ...... or you want a full time yan yan / bun bun ?
Ideally, in my opion, if you have someone e.g. grandma to supervise the domestic helper will be a better option. She can come to your home from time to time. On the other hand, you can set a web cam and let your helper to be aware that she is still under supervision even you are not at home.
But still, it's a matter of luck to hire a good helper. And I believe and hope sincerely that most of the domestic helpers won't do anything harmful to the BB.

Thank you for your advice.
As I live rather far away from my mum and parent-in-law, it's not likely for them to come to my home in supervising the maid. My intention is to hire a local babysitter in the 1st 2 years after my baby is born. When he/she is 2 years old (can speak and express), I'll hire a maid to take care of him/her. Not sure if it's workable or not. But at least, it makes me feel carefree.
