Besides prenatal vitamins, did most moms also take DHA supplements while you were pregnant? If so, was it fish oil or plant-based?
When did you start to take it?
Did it really help?

Thanks.

回覆:DHA Supplement

I took the nature made brand fish oil, which is over the counter. It has higher amount of DHA than the prescription ones.

If you just want plant based DHA, there's Expecta Lipil (over the counter), Citranatal and Prenexa (prescription only)

It's hard to tell whether it's really useful or not, I think it is, at least my kids are smarter than me when I was a child.

When did you start taking the DHA?
Right at the beginning when you found out you were pregnant?

My ob. gave some prenatal vitamin samples, and the packages all came with DHA as separate pills. The smallest size is fish oil and it doesn't say what kind of fish it contains. Also, I don't like fish oil since I was a little kid. The plant-based ones are bigger. As I still have the nausea feeling and sometimes vomited, I just don't feel like taking the DHA now.

When I was pregnant with my older one long time ago, there was no such thing of DHA supplement. However, I didn't have the nausea feeling and was able to eat everything, including fish and shrimps about once a week, and he's fine.

I highly recommended Duet DHA. It is a prenatal vitamin with DHA supplement. You need a MD prescription for it. According to many literature and research studies, it is the best and absorbs better in the body!

I took Duet when I was pregnant with my older kid many years ago but it didn't come with DHA at that time. Duet was probably the most popular prenatal vitamin in those days.

However, two obs. prescribed Nestab to me this time. It also come with DHA (fish oil), but I took Expecta (non-fish source DHA) separately.
This prenatal is about the same as Duet, but probably the iron supplement level might be a bit higher and also there's no vitamin A at all. my ob. said overdose of vitamin A is toxic and getting vitamin A from the food should be good enough.

I also bought the Nordics Naturals Prenatal DHA (fish oil) but haven't tried it so far. I guess I already get used to the taste of Expecta and not sure if I can tolerate other tastes!

I took Nature Made prenatal multi-vitamin which already contains DHA, which I think is pretty good. During my pregnancy, I only take that with one extra calcium capsule daily.
