Please advise if S26 is better than A+?

Hihi mami's,

My son is now 7.5 months old, but only weight 17 lbs. My husband prefers him to get a bit fatter and suggests to change S26 for him (he's taking A+ No. 2 now). But I'm worried that S26 is too oily (or "hot air") and have heard it is always difficult for poo poo.

Any mami's have similar experience before? Can you share with me?

Hello floriamak,

I can't suggest that you change milk powder for him, but my son also drink S26, now he is 1 mth and 4 days old, he is a bit 'hot air' but his #### is fine so i still didn't change other milk powder for him, and ur question about difficult for poo poo, i also got this problem before, now i use other way for poo poo, try to let him lying your shoulder then from down to up lighly to clap his back.

Good morning floriamak,

Yes, i lived in KL but i'm from hk, my bb born got 3.01kg, now is 4.45kg checked last tuseday, he is 1 mth and 10 days old today, he is fine but still got some problems, he dun sleep long at daytime, after fed can sleep for 1 hour then wake up need to hug then have to wait next fed time, even can sleep, put down on his bed then just sleep a while, but night time can sleep, just need milk every 3 or 3 1/2 hrs.
how about your baby?

Hi Sharon,

Glad to know you here. Your baby growth is good.

My baby is now 8 months but his weight didn't grow well in the last 3 months. He has got roseola infantum 2 weeks ago and since then he didn't eat well. He need to take soya milk at the moment. He born with 3.34 kg, but now still only around 8kg.

I have similar situation with you in the first 3 months of my boy. I think is because breastfeeding. He felt the sense of safety during breastfeed too, so he must wake up at night for milk. Even until now, he still need to wake up once for milk. I have quit breastfeeding after about his 3 months old, because need to get back to work, and no more milk for him. As per nurses mentioned, breastfeeding is "feed on demand", so cannot force him to eat much neither. Situation will go better if change to formula (not sure if this is your case).

But I think as long as he need, I'll hug him and feed him when he's a little baby.

Back to my original question, I have heard that S26 can help baby to grow fatter, hence may want to have a try to let my boy got some "spare" fat.

My baby girl is drinking S26 for 3 months, but her face always become reddish. Then, I am going to change the milk power from S26 to NAN HA.

My girl take A+ and she is fat enough. I think the weight isn't due to the milk powder but bb himself.

I have heard that S26 is not good so I didn't try that.

I heard that S26 is quite 'hot' for baby, my son also got reddish on face, but i read bb book said just use water to clean quite often then will disappear and get better, it's work for my son.

It's hard to say whether S26 makes babies grow fatter. It all depends on how much nutrients that individual babies take from the milk. What most mothers concern about S26 is that whether it makes the babies' poo poo hard even though their babies have already taken a lot of water each day. If that's the case, it is advised to change another formula, like A+ or the Snow Brand.

For my son, he was fed with S26 in the first 10 months. He was not fat at all and his weight fell into the 50% curve as advised by the Mother-Child Clinic. Since his poo poo was not very good, i later changed the formula to A+2. The poo poo did become softer. My son kept 'slim' with A+2 as before.

In short, it's hard to tell whether a particular formula is good or not. It can only tell whether the formula goes well with your baby after your baby tries it.

Your information is very helpful and I agree that whether the baby is fat or not, will be affected by a lot of factors.

I'll have a try on S26, and if his poo poo is not good, I'll stop and go back to A+2 again. :) Thank you very much for your advise.

fyi, my bb was on 25% curve, but after his roseola infantum 2 weeks ago, where he didn't eat well and poo poo a lot, he's now even below 25%. :-(

Thanks for your information. As before, I cleaned my baby face after every meal. Her face still got reddish. Then, I changed the milk power from S26 to NAN HA two days before. Her face gets better now.

Hope that it's not too late to make the reply.
My boy is having S26, all along getting no problem on poo poo, even, I followed advice from WHO on not to give water before his 6 months, his poo poo is nice and sometime twice per day......

For the body weight, yes, at very beginning he was a bit over the average, but now, at his 1 year old, he still eating well but the weight drop. Maintained around 20 lbs and according to nurse of MCHC that he is under average...... it's my case, just for your reference and hope could help
