We went to Singapore with our kid of 5 yr old this easter holiday, as this is our kid's first trip, we didn't plan to stay most of the time in Sentosa, so we book a hotel located above MRT in City Hall station. The following itinery for your reference:
Day 1: Noon - arrival
Afternoon - hotel check in & nap (for kid)
late afternoon - visit merlion & take singapore river cruise
Night - Suntec City - watch Fountain of Wealth show (free) & shop in 家樂福
Day 2: Morning - visit Bird Park
Afternoon - nap in hotel (for kid) [Originally planned to visit China Town]
Late Afternoon - Singapore flyer
Night - walk to Sands Hotel & shop there [originally planned to watch Wonder Full show (free) but we missed it]
Day 3: Morning to Afternoon - visit Zoo [our time span there is longer than planned due to heavy rain]
Evening - to ION orchard for dinner & shopping
Day 4: Morning to Afternoon - to Sentosa tour around, play skyride & luge, water & sand play at the beaches, visit the southern most point
Late Afternoon - to Vivo City for shopping & dinner
Night - back to Sentosa for Songs of the Sea show
Day 5: Morning - to a building nearby hotel which has many bookshops (including Popular and another children bookshop which has 30% off)
Early Afternoon - check out
You may aware that we haven't gone to Universal Studio as we think that there are many exciting games that our kid cannot play and our kid does not enjoy shows in the dark much.
We also haven't gone to Night Safari with our kid as we think cannot see much in the dark and will be too exhausted to keep our kid sleep late.
But we certainly will visit these places when our kid grows bigger.

Thx for the itinery! It is really useful. May I know the name of the hotel and the price? Is it good ...
We stayed at Swissotel the Stamford hotel. We booked it via travel agent: CX flight + 5 days 4 nights hotel incl breakfast, @ adult costs $6800, kid costs $2050. The hotel room is big and the hotel upgraded us to high floor with harbour view. It is located above MRT with shopping mall downstairs, very convenient.
