My experience is the price in Japan airports is similar to the market, unless comparing with wholesale markets. You can get even cheaper goods when you shop in the restricted area, as it's tax free. A lot of local people simply do their last-minute shopping in domestic airports where all kinds of local foods and souvenirs mostly available.
