I have few toys for my 6 months old:
1. Ball
2. Rattle
3. Teether ring
4. Doll
5. Electronic piano that plays music and sounds
6. Picture books
No DVDs because I don't want my baby to watch too much TV without interaction. I also don't allow iphones or ipads.
Here are things that you can do:
1. Ball
- Football - let the baby pick it up / kick it, and you roll it back.
- Chase - hold the ball, attract your baby to reach out / crawl to get it
2. Rattle
- Let her grasp it, or you hold and shake it to create sounds, let your baby turn and follow the sound
3. Play hide and seek with a blanket or towel, peek-a-boo
4. Books - read to your baby, let her touch and feel the book
5. Let her look at your face more, smile, stick out tongue etc. let her imitate
6. Put her in front of a big mirror and look at herself (she often laugh)
7. Talk to your baby - describe what you are doing, simple words like mama baba
8. Try play with your baby sitting? or on tummy? (if your baby is too heavy)
9. I bring her around the house and show her different things
10. When I bring her out, I use a baby carrier and not a push-car / pram because she likes to look at things.
11. Sing songs? Anything from nursery rhymes. If the radio is on, I sometimes sing some songs along too. Baby sometimes and stare at you or try to imitate.
