I am considering to subscribe this fund (as monthly installment) as its performance is very well (but not fluctuate as much as the "pure" gold funds) since its establishment.

but as the gold price is quite high now, don't you think it is a bit risky, or it is the best opportunities of another rising trend of gold, to subsribe this fund?

by the way, there is another fund of Merrilyn named something like ' New Energy Fund'. This fund is on rising trend now, but is falling for a few years. Is it right time to invest in this fund.

Hi ALAL,

Depends on the level of risk you can bear, the Merrilyn New Energy fund and World Gold fund are of higher risk than the World mining fund (and funds of Eastern Europe & Latin America too). However, if the oil price stays at high level or continue to rise, the former 2 funds will have good performance. On other hand, terrorist attacks and regional warfare threats might lead to increase in gold price and benefits gold funds.

If you have faith in the future of gold alone (someone predict gold price will increase to US$1,000/oz in 5 years' time!), the World Gold fund of Merrilyn may suits you better because it has over 80% of investment in gold sector, while the World Mining fund only has 11.5% investment in gold sector (see below).

其實不一定的. 而且, 若是的話, '舊'能源基金也可以部份投資在'新'能源基金以增加回報.

金/礦產的確是高風險的, 將來不一定是上升, 所以投資的原則很簡單, 可以買, 但不要買多.

I first subscibed merrilyn world mineral fund at $45. Today I have subscribed some merrilyn world mineral fund again, constituting totally 5% of all my saving.

(At lunch time, the bank staff asked me to buy the fund but I perfer to wait, then I have gone out of the bank, bringing my son, and think after a while, and go into the bank again to place the subscription, because my son leave his pooh pooh inside the bank I must go back). Wish me good luck.

I have 美林 emerging europe and a investment in HK and China stock market by Invesco (cannot remeber the name!).
