Week 17-20
Your next appointment will be very much like those in the preceding weeks.Your doctor or midwife will perform all the routine checks on you and your baby. By now you have probably felt your baby's movements and your doctor or midwife will want you to give an assessment of your baby's activity how often your baby moves and what it feels like. So make sure to note when you feel these movements date, time of day, description of how the movement felt, and the intensity of the movement. This is good habit to get into early in your pregnancy so you can help your doctor or midwife determine how well your baby is doing inside of you. Your nipples may be more sensitive than ever, especially when you are lying on them during sleep or when they rub against your clothing and you may notice some leaking of colostrum. You may also be feeling some big pains on the sides of your uterus. These pains are called round ligament pains. These are not serious (although they may feel it!) in fact they are very routine and necessary. The round ligaments on either side of your uterus must stretch as your uterus grows. Make sure to mention these concerns at your visit.
