Yes. I am planning to go to Japan with my bb. I applied the 特區護照 & ID card. The forms can be obtained from Post Office or Immigration office, but make sure all of the forms below are available when you get the forms:
(1) ID842 : Passport application form for child under 16 years old;
(2) ROP3 : HKID card application form;
(3) 副署事項表格 : The form to be filled in & signed by a 3rd party (not parents) to prove the child's identity;
(4) Letter of authorisation : Only required if you need someone else to collect the passport/HKID on your behalf;
(5) ID836 : Addressed envelope; and
(6) ID839 : Address stickers.
Both (1), (3) & (4) are printed in the booklet which can be detached from the booklet after completion, but (2) is only enclosed as a loose page. If you are applying in person & bring along with your bb, (4) & (5) will not be necessary. Finally, altogether 4 photos are required (with 1 to be returned upon passport collection). The fee is $160 for passport & free for HKID card.
Since I am going to Japan soon. The Immigration Officer had granted a passport to my bb within 4 working days (a proof of departure date is required). However, ID card requires a month (around 20 working days) to process. Confirmed with the Immigration Officer, as the ID card is not yet available, my bb can travel to Japan using a passport ONLY.
Yes. You may either bring your bb to Immigration Officer upon application submission OR passport collection, depending on which way is more convenient to you.
Documents to be ready (all are stated on the information booklet which comes with the forms). In summary, both original & copy of (1) your ID card, (2) marriage certificate & (3) bb's birth certificate.
